My composing is energized by the emotional connection between words and music. I compose mostly for chorus or for solo voice. Here is a favorite from among my choral pieces, and here is a favorite from among my songs. You might be able to detect my sense of humor in this piece. Or this one. It has long been my custom to write a new carol every year (sometimes more than one) to send as musical Christmas card. Here is a personal favorite. Here is another. And here is a guide to much of my Christmas music. I play horn, so I have often written for that instrument. (The picture shows me hiding behind my Schmid double horn.) Here is an example. Sometimes I write for garden hose instead.
Here are some videos of choruses performing my music.
If you are brave, you can see and hear my opera The Fashion God, which deals with Michael Brown and the destruction of New Orleans by hurricane Katrina.
